I have taken some time to absorb for myself what is occurring for me and so I have not rushed to the website or email. I have some material that might or might not be useful to you and I am going to put that forward:
Here is an interactive blog (updates daily if not more) from the Washington Post that I have been using for at least a week if not longer to watch the numbers as some of the cases are confirmed in particular localities. I find the numbers increasing and decreasing to be a way to follow what is going on where. This also gives me a sense of watching the Pandemic in action which has been reassuring when others are touting conspiracy. Here is a non-conspiratorial reason for the authorities to panic - New York does not have enough hospital beds for the confirmed besides those that are sheltering in place and trying to ride it out. The virus overwhelms our capacity during a certain period of time. Italy is deeply engaged in this.
Here is some material from Bruce Frantzis that is a relatively simple routine that you can get deeper and deeper into as you do it daily. The art of Neigong is a daily art. This brings the impact of us studying our experience using a similar movement daily but the body is different. Remember this is part of Chinese Traditional Medicine (TCM). Toaist Movement arts and keeping your body moving at this time is very important. This work combined with what I have taught you will keep you well and flowing, if you use it.
Finally I have been reading in the following Thomas Merton’s The Way of Chuang Tzu and you could find it takes your attention just to read the Introduction:
It is a larger context; a different but similar times (the Warring States) when it was difficult to trust those in the civilization who had lost their Way from Experience.
I think I have been teaching about how do we conduct ourselves in stressful times. You have skills - continue to develop the skills you have - deepen the breathing and work the lungs and heart with the above routine or some Energy Gates, or Circling Hands or bounce or side-side weight shift all while breathing and relaxing and turning so much of your attention toward your internal (Neigong) experience that you have none left, momentarily, for what is going on in our civilization.
Health will no longer befall you - you either work on your “health” daily or you will not be “healthy.”
Breathe Deeply expanding in the belly, sides and small of back like you are filling a balloon and then when you exhale pull the belly-button toward the spinal column, gently.
